Determined to leave a mark on the world even though they are in the hospital and their days are dwindling, unlikely friends, 17-year-old Lenni and 83-year-old Margot, devise a plan to create 100 paintings showcasing the stories of the century they have lived.

Seventeen-year-old Lenni Pettersson has been told she is dying. She meets eighty-three-year-old Magnificent Margot who lives with her in the terminal ward at Glasgow Prince Royal Hospital. The story unfolds alternately between the two of them as stories of their combined 100 years of life are shared. They develop a beautiful friendship in the process as they determine to leave their mark on the world.

Lenni has a quirky relationship with Father Arthur whom she asks all the questions one who is dying would want answered.

Each chapter takes place in a different time period in the character’s lives, and their stories are filled with love, joy, sadness, pain, courage, and so much life. Though the story’s plot is centered on death, the focus on living every single moment of life to the fullest shines through. This celebration of friendship is at times comical and tender, moving and joyful, capable of evoking both laughter and tears, making it an unforgettable read.
