Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, Vol. 1: The Long Way Home (Issue 1-5)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, Vol. 1: The Long Way Home (Issue 1-5)

By Joss Whedon & Georges Jeanty

Have you ever loved a TV series, just to have it end on you? Don’t you wish that it could continue on forever? Sometimes, wishes do come true. Joss Whedon, creator of the cult classic TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, has continued on the beloved series in comic book form.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, Vol. 1: The Long Way Home” picks up shortly after where season 7 of the TV series left off. “The Long Way Home" is the first story arc of the new series, and it takes us to the Scottish castle where Buffy hangs her hat as leader of a Slayer commando unit, where Xander acts as a new Watcher and ops coordinator, where Willow takes care of both mystical and technical affairs, and where Dawn -- still kind of whiny, deals with some very literal growing pains. While in Scotland, Buffy and the Scooby Gang soon find out that a sinister plot is at hand which involves a cult and the government. Even some surprising old foes re-appear to wreak havoc on Buffy, Xander, Willow, and the slayer legion. Once again, it is up to Buffy and the Scooby Gang to save the world. Can they figure out the new Big Bad’s plot before it’s too late?

As a long-time fan of the TV series, I was delighted to find “The Long Way Home” available on Hoopla. Instantly, the reader is greeted with a feeling of complete comfort in the old "Buffyverse"; the dialogue is so spot on you will hear the original actor's voices in your head as you read. The illustrations are vivid and the story line is true to the original series. The story’s transition from film to print is very smooth. Overall, this is a great read for any Buffy fan.
