The Couple Next Door

The Couple Next Door

By Shari Lapena

This was a crazy psychological thriller from start to finish. Just when you think you have it figured out, something else happens. The storyline races along full speed through the many twist and turns of these very flawed characters.

Marco and Anne were told not to bring their crying infant to the dinner party next door. Then the sitter cancelled. Against Anne’s better judgement, and at Marco’s insistence, they left the baby at home. They took the baby monitor and planned to check on her every half hour. Marco assured her everything will be fine! When they went home around 1:30 am, the front door was ajar and the baby is gone. She is too young to climb out by herself – someone had to have taken her. This begins a series of unbelievable events as we find out who took the baby and who has her now. Marco feels pressure because he is the one who came up with the idea to leave the baby at home and he was the last one to see her. He knows that Anne's wealthy parents are counting this as yet another strike against him. Anne's postpartum depression puts her under suspicion and she isn’t sure she can even trust her own memories. Detective Rasbach knows the parents are usually involved in cases like this, but he also knows to expect anything. Everyone is on his suspect list!

Be prepared for a shocking crime and horrendous secrets revealed, some of which, you will find terrible disturbing. Definitely an on the edge of your seat type of thriller. Great read from start to finish that is next to impossible to put down.
