EveryDayCook

By Alton Brown

EveryDayCook is the brainchild of Food Network Chef Alton Brown. Alton has released seven other cookbooks in the past, but it has been several years since his last release. In this cookbook, Alton shares his “everyday” recipes. He includes anecdotes with his recipes which is immensely entertaining!

Alton Brown touts himself as an “every day cook” and this cookbook is divided into times of the day: Morning, Coffee Break, Noon, Afternoon, Evening, Anytime, and Later. The book begins with a short introduction from Alton Brown, where he explains the evolution of this cookbook. It then goes into a detailed visual and descriptive segment on hardware for your kitchen. Alton follows that with pantry favorites and must-haves, for not only these recipes, but your kitchen in general. The methods section explains some basic techniques on things from prepping a Bundt pan to cooking under pressure. Alton includes tips and tricks in all parts of this book. If you have watched his television cooking shows, you know that he is very exact in how he cooks and in which ingredients he uses for his recipes. This book is a great way to get to know Alton Brown’s methods.

The recipes in this book were easy to follow and fun to prepare. Alton’s humor comes through with each recipe, and I found myself chuckling as I read. I personally enjoy cookbooks with photographs in them. It gives me a basis to judge my own creation of someone else’s recipes. I am happy to say that Alton Brown has included some sort of photograph with all of his recipes. With 100 new recipes from Alton Brown, you will not be disappointed in this cookbook! This book is available at your library. (If you like this one, we have some older ones by Alton Brown also at your library.) Happy Reading and cooking!
