Jacob has been dreaming of a kind woman with long black hair for as long has he can remember. He wonders if she was ever real or just a creation of his imagination to help him cope with the devastation of his grief torn family. Jacob was four years old when his brother died in a tragic accident. He is then abandoned by his father and suffers years of abuse from his mother. Jacob abruptly leaves home at the age of sixteen. Despite these early trials, or maybe because of them, Jacob finds his way in the world and becomes a very successful romance writer.
When his mother dies, Jacob returns home to settle her affairs. He discovers his mother was a hoarder, so he spends time literally uncovering the past. Memories emerge along with people and experiences long forgotten. A girl searching for her adoptive mother joins Jacob in a journey to find buried truth. A neighbor who loves him comes to point him to his father. This is a story of grace, hope, forgiveness, and healing, with a touch of romance.
