Heather's Pick: No Words by Meg Cabot

Arriving on Little Bridge Island for a speaking engagement, bestselling children's author Jo Wright comes face-to-face with her nemesis, writer Will Price, who, much to her surprise, wants to make amends and prove to her that he is a changed man -- until disaster strikes.

Meg Cabot welcomes us back to Little Bridge Island, Florida in this third installment of her Little Bridge Island Series. This installment focuses on bestselling author Jo Wright who is brought to Little Bridge as a speaker/guest at the First Annual Little Bridge Island Book Festival.

Having fallen victim to writer’s block after fellow author Will Price criticized her bestselling series Kitty Kay, Kitten Sitter; Jo is hoping that a vacation on Little Bridge Island will cure her block and allow her to crank out the twenty-seventh book in her series. She also agreed to appear at the festival because her agent promised that Will Price will not be attending. As it turns out, Will is not only attending the festival, but he is its biggest donor and the person who is paying her stipend! Jo tries to make the best of it but run-ins with Will are inevitable.

As someone who adores Meg Cabot, this book is just another that I will need to add to my collection. Cabot always creates well-developed, diverse, and interesting characters and this is one of the many things I love about her. Jo, her best friend and fellow writer Bernadette, as well as the other authors attending the book festival are unique, interesting and give us a glimpse of what life is like for authors in general and while attending festivals. The writing style of this book is also typical of Cabot’s witty and engaging style. She always makes her characters feel familiar and relatable and although I am not a writer, I found myself relating to Jo in more than one way.

This is a fast-paced, feel-good contemporary romance; however, there were a few plot choices that seemed out of place to me. Overall though I enjoyed another trip to Little Bridge Island and can’t wait to go back.
