The Future is in Your Hands

Lafourche Parish Public Library Millage

The Library’s 10-year dedicated tax millage comes up for renewal on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 and will keep your libraries open and operating for another 10 years.

This millage is a renewal of the same millage voters approved in 1995 and again in 2005. Without an increase to the people since 1995!

The Library has two (2) millage propositions on the ballot that provide over 85% of the Library’s operational budget, including books, computers, online resources, staff, utilities, supplies, maintenance and repairs.

When we finished constructing the new library buildings, the Library Board voluntarily gave back 2 Mils to the people in 2007 because we had collected enough revenues to build our buildings and didn’t want to over-tax our residents. We are proud to say we did all of our construction without having to bond out any of the expense of our new buildings. The money we are collecting now is only what we need to maintain the services we have and continue to update technology where needed.

Our libraries are not just places to store physical books; we are MORE THAN BOOKS! If you haven’t stopped in lately, please come in to see all that we have to offer.
