Lafourche Parish Public Library is celebrating Teen Read Week, October 18-24, with activities, classes and a myriad of fun and entertaining events. Teens (ages 12-18) can enter the Thibodaux Branch “Teen Cover Redesign Contest” by creating a new cover for a favorite Young Adult book. Entries must be submitted by October 16, with the winner to be announced on October 23. At the Golden Meadow Branch, teens can write the titles of their favorite books on paper pumpkins – and be entered into a prize drawing. Teens who check out books at the South Lafourche Branch can also enter their names for a chance to win a prize. Larose Branch is having a YA fiction trivia contest, with the winner chosen from entries with the most correct answers. Larose Branch will also have a world map so teens can mark the location of where their favorite YA novels take place. Gheens Branch teens are reading Halloween stories at 5:00 pm on Monday, October 19. Costumes are welcome, so come join the fun! If Zombies interest you, Lockport is having a “Zombie Takeover” all day on Wednesday, October 21. You can find hidden Zombies in the library, learn how to survive a Zombie attack, and play Zombie games.
