In 1990 President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 "National American Indian Heritage Month”, and what better way to celebrate it than to learn something about the history and cultures of some of the first Americans?
Our South Lafourche Branch has an extensive cultural and historical collection with items relevant to local Native American tribes such as the Houma and Choctaw Indians.
The Golden Meadow Library Historical Center is part of the Golden Meadow Library Branch and houses an extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia of life in the Bayou Lafourche region, including that of local Native American tribes (contact info below).
