What’s more fun than reading Dr. Seuss?
The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, Red Fish, Blue Fish…
Hang out at the library as we celebrate the man Theodor Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, and his creations for an entertaining and educational time. Each year, our library, along with libraries across the country, celebrates Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day, which falls on Dr. Seuss’s March 2 birthday.
In 1997, the National Educational Association (NEA) decided to create a day to celebrate reading. The NEA also decided that that day of reading should be held on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The aim behind Read Across America is to encourage children to celebrate reading and to read for the fun of it. The hope is that doing so will help to foster a love of reading and life-long learning.
Many of our library branches are hosting special Seuss programs, from birthday bashes to storytimes and more. Check out these programs, which are open to children of all ages, and engage in some fun at the library.
Be sure to stop by. You never know who you might see in a big red and white hat.
