October is National Family Health Month

Our health is important to us, and we want to help you take care of yourself and your family. Taking care of your body and mind can make a big difference in how healthy you are in general. Exercising, relaxing, and getting enough rest lead to good health and greater enjoyment of life. Here at LPPL we have tools to help you accomplish all three.

If exercise is what you are lacking, visit a branch near you. You will find a large variety of exercise videos for the at-home enthusiast. From Zumba to yoga or cardio to weight training, in DVD or eResource format, we have what you need to achieve your fitness goals. If you prefer to exercise with others, a variety of classes are offered. You can join Walk Away the Pounds on Fridays in Golden Meadow. Visit the Raceland Branch for Cardio Mondays and Zumba Fridays, or join others at Thibodaux Branch on Fridays for Zumba and Hip Hop Abs.

Libraries are relaxation stations and are practically a necessity for overall health. Besides educational resources and events, all branches plan a variety of activities that are just for fun. Everyone is welcome to come in and relax, create, listen, watch, cuddle up with a good book, or just browse.

Life is busy, and the library is a great place to come in and rest awhile. You will find soothing spaces for the entire family to read, enjoy technology, and play. We invite you to come in and pass a quiet afternoon. You will find something to interest everyone in the family, and everyone can check out something to bring home for free.

Visit a branch this month for a variety of events specifically focused on National Family Health Month. Check here for wellness screenings and other informative programs at a branch near you.
