We know you get busy, we get it. Between school, work, and after school activities, you’re bound to forget to return your items once in a while. Maybe you thought you lost the items, only to find them behind your couch a few months later. Fret not! During the month of September, all Lafourche Parish Public Libraries are offering fine forgiveness. During the month, you will not accrue fines on your account. If you have existing fines, you have three options: you can bring in non-perishable food items, which will be donated to local food banks, and you can bring in pet food, which will be donated to local animal shelters. The third option, of course, is to pay off your fines.
If you’re not sure how much you owe, call any one of our nine branches. We will check your account and let you know how much non-perishable food items and/or pet food to bring in. Want to donate to both people and animals? Great! You can also do a combination of pet and people food items to clear your library account. Once you bring in your donations, you can begin checking out items that day.
Be sure to double check your donations before you bring them in. Your donations must not be expired, and please only bring in undamaged canned (no dents or punctures). The only library items not included in fine forgiveness month are: Laptop, Launchpad, Nook, Playaways, Views, and video games.
We love helping out our community at LPPL. Fine Forgiveness Month helps our customers clear their fines, and gives back to our community. If you’ve stayed away from the library, come back! We have added many new items to our collection, and we offer engaging workshops at each of our nine branches.
