Get a Hobby @ Your Library!

January is National Hobby Month!

Did you know that every library branch offers a variety of FREE activities and programs every month? January is the perfect month to start a new hobby! Any one of our programs can become your new hobby. These programs range from book clubs, language classes, different crafts, sewing, yoga, exercise classes, photography to planting and gardening advice. The library has activities for all age groups from babies and toddlers, children, tweens, teens, young adults to adults. You may be wondering how you can find out what’s happening at your local branch. The answer is several ways.

First, you can stop by a branch and pick up a calendar. This has the entire month’s activities listed with times and dates. While you are there, ask a staff member for some advice on the best upcoming activities for you.

Second, check out our website www.lafourche.org and click on the blue calendar icon in the middle of the page. This calendar features the entire parish, but you can filter by event types, age groups or locations (library branches).

Third, you can call any of our branches on the telephone. Our staff members will be happy to fill you in on the upcoming month’s activities.

Fourth, if you are on Facebook or Twitter, Lafourche Parish Library has accounts on both. Brooke, our Public Relations Librarian, is always keeping the public up-to-date on what’s happening at our library branches.

With all of these ways to get the library scoop, you are sure to find a new hobby that fits your life and schedule. But, if your local branch doesn’t have what you are looking for, we are happy to take suggestions anytime. Visit your library and get in on the fun!

P.S. We also have books, DVDs, and computer databases that have information on numerous hobbies.
