Young Hot Wheels Enthusiast Displays Collection at Bayou Blue Library in January 2019

If you visited our Bayou Blue Branch last month, you might have noticed a pretty “hot” collection displayed in the library foyer. The collection of Hot Wheels (pictured) belongs to nine-year-old Kale Gadd, a 4th grade student at Bayou Blue Elementary. Kale has amassed a pretty impressive Hot Wheels collection over the years, and he was happy to lend it to the library for the community to enjoy.

You might be wondering how Kale’s collection got started, and why Hot Wheels? Kale has always had a love of anything with an engine. His obsession ranged from steam engine trains to cars, starting when he was about five-years-old. It seemed every time his family would go out of town, Kale would come home with one or two Hot Wheels. At first, he liked the American Muscle Cars, and then he became interested in the more exotic cars. Kale has probably close to 200 different Hot Wheels and other model cars! Recently Kale and his Uncle Glynn, who lives in Florida, started trading Hot Wheels. This has allowed Kale to be able to collect cars from the present and also some from the past.

Thank you for sharing your collection with us, Kale! Our community thoroughly enjoyed it.

Do YOU have a collection that you would like to put on display at our library branches? Contact us! We would love to feature your collection!
