National Library Week 2019: Libraries = Strong Communities

Over the years, libraries have transformed from repositories of books and knowledge to centers for creativity, learning, and expression. Where else can you go to access technology, attend both recreational and informational classes, as well as borrow books, DVDs, video games, magazines, smart tablets, and audiobooks, all for free? This April, LPPL is celebrating National Library Week. National Library Week is a week-long national observance sponsored by the American Library Association. It is a time to celebrate the contributions and importance of all types of libraries across the country. National Library Week is April 8th-13th. The theme this year is Libraries = Strong Communities. Each day of National Library Week celebrates a different aspect of the library. Celebrations include National Library Workers’ Day, National Bookmobile Day, and Take Action for Libraries Day. Here at LPPL, we will be hosting activities and events throughout the week to celebrate libraries and our communities.
