KICK OFF 2020 WITH SOME AMAZING ANIMALS: SCHOOLHOUSE SAFARI RETURNS TO LPPL

Schoolhouse Safari is back with another exotic animal encounter designed to engage and educate people of all ages about the inhabitants of our animal world.

  • Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center, Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, 314 St. Mary Street, Thibodaux: January 2, 10:30 a.m.

  • Lockport Branch Library, 720 Crescent Avenue: January 2, 1 p.m.

  • South Lafourche Branch Library, 16241 E. Main Street, Cut Off: January 2, 4 p.m.

HONORING MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. AT LPPLIBRARY

Check out these January events happenings in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Bayou Blue

Bayou Blue Branch Library, 198 Mazerac Street: Tweens and teens (those ages 8 and up) can create a mixed media peace sign in honor Dr. King’s life and work at 4 p.m. on January 15. Children ages 5 to 8 can create a peace dove at 4 p.m. on January 16 to honor Dr. King.

Choctaw

Choctaw Branch Library, 1887 Choctaw Road: People of all ages can honor Dr. King’s legacy by creating a mixed media word collage from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on January 15.

Gheens

Gheens Branch Library, 153 N. Leon Drive: Children and teens ages 8 to 16 can celebrating Dr. King’s life by creating a mixed media project promoting peace at 3:30 p.m. on January 16.

Golden Meadow

Golden Meadow Branch Library, 1403 N. Bayou Drive: Create a dove windsock inspired by Dr. King’s “I have a Dream” speech at 4:30 p.m. on January 16.

Larose

Larose Branch Library, 305. E. Fifth Street: In honor of Dr. King, children and teens can create a freedom dove at 4:15 p.m. on January 8.

Lockport

Lockport Branch Library: Children ages 4 to 12 can create a handprint craft to celebrate Dr. King’s life and work at 4:30 p.m. on January 16.

Raceland

Raceland Branch Library: Teens can learn more about Dr. King with a word search at 4 p.m. on January and find the words to your dream. Children can color your own dream to follow at 4 p.m. on January 17.

South Lafourche

South Lafourche Branch Library: Children ages 4 to 12 can create and decorate a wreath of dreams in celebration of Dr. King at 4:30 p.m. on January 16. Registration is required to attend, so sign up early to reserve your spot.

Thibodaux

Thibodaux Branch Library: People of all ages are invited to celebration Dr. King’s birthday, along with members of Delta Sigma Theta, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on January 17 with a tribute to his dream to make our world a better place.
