During the worst of the COVID pandemic in 2020 while most of us were in lockdown, the Lafourche Parish Public Library was “open for business.” While our physical buildings were not open, library staff were working from home doing various tasks including coming up with ideas on how to reach our patrons remotely to continue the award winning service we are known for. The library had (and still has) a thriving digital presence that is open 24-7 to everyone with a library card. We offered many databases, where patrons could download from the comfort of their homes, movies, eBooks, eAudiobooks, music, read-along books, learn a new craft—you name it and we could find something to please any preference for library services during those hard, long months.
But there was one particular concern the library had. We wanted our loyal patrons throughout Lafourche Parish to know that we were still present--thinking about our little ones who might be missing story times, reaching everyone who still wanted to make a craft, providing essential information about COVID with links on our Facebook page, to name a few.
And so, the bright minds of our library staff came up with a program we call “Online Events with your library!” Online Events features daily and weekly videos that you can stream at home from our website, our Facebook page, and even YouTube. “Online Events with your library!” proved to be so popular when library branches were closed, that the library decided to make this program permanent, continuing to add new content and video ideas on a regular basis.

@Home With Your Library - Enjoy a variety of workshops including arts & crafts, fitness, gardening, & more
Craft-urday For Kids - Every Saturday at 4 PM join us for creative crafting projects for kids & their families.
STEAM Sit Down Online - Join us for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, & math) workshops suitable for all ages every Friday at 4PM.
Staff Shares Sunday - On Sundays at 9 AM enjoy as staff share some of their favorite "library" things with you.
