Are you ready to explore the “Oceans of Possibilities” available?
Did you know that Live Performances are back? On June 6, experience Didgeridoo Down Under at the Jean Lafitte auditorium in Thibodaux at 10:30 am, and at the Lockport Town Hall at 2:30 pm. Combining Australian music, stories, and comedy, this interactive performance has something for all ages! Join the fun and get transported to “Down Under.”
In-Branch Story Times are also back. On Mondays, you can participate in story time at Bayou Blue Branch or Gheens Branch (10:30 am for both branches). Raceland Branch story time is hosted on Tuesdays at 11:00 am. Wednesdays are the day for Thibodaux story time at 11:15 am. Story time on Thursdays are at Choctaw Branch (10:00 am), Lockport Branch (10:30 am), and Larose Branch (1:00 pm). Ocean Above and Under the Ocean are just two of the themes which will incorporate great stories, fun activities and inventive crafts.
Along with Take and Make crafts (every Monday a new craft is available for pick-up at each Branch), you can sign up for in-Branch Art Workshops geared to children (8 years+), Teens (13 years+), and adult (16 years+). June workshops include a Mini Aquarium, a Coral Reef Seahorse, Sea Turtle Painting, and Salt Resist Art. Virtual crafts can be found on Tuesdays at the Page Turner Ocean Adventures link. Each week has a new theme, including Lighthouse Adventure (week of May 30th) and Coral Reef Adventure (week of June 12).
Kids and Teens, are you hungry in the afternoon? Come to the Library and enjoy free meals from 2-3 pm on Monday-Thursday each week from June 1 to August 12. Meals will be available at the following Branches: Bayou Blue, Choctaw, Thibodaux, Raceland, Larose, and Lockport. This program (in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank) provides food for children and teens, to be eaten in the Library. Yum!
There is so much to do this summer at the Library. Learn how to cast a fishing rod, with the help of Wildlife & Fisheries. The LSU Ag Center will host “Let’s Eat for the Health of It” workshops. Art classes, virtual programs, book talks, online video games, and STEAM Sit Down Online are just a few of the Oceans of Possibilities to make this a great Summer Experience at the Lafourche Parish Public Library.
