What's Happening: November 2021

Believe it or not, it’s November already. Time seems to have flown faster than usual this year, but it still marches on. We’re getting our first tastes of cool weather and thinking about our gratitude for all we still have. We here at LPPL are forever thankful to be serving our wonderful community.

Subscription Service Spotlight: Creativebug

If you want to give some unique gifts this upcoming holiday season Creativebug can give you some wonderful ideas! For free with your library card, you can watch high-quality instructional video classes for thousands of on-trend arts and crafts. You can take part in unlimited classes through the app or on your computer.

Down the Bayou Book Drop Location

With the South Lafourche and Golden Meadow branches closed due to damage from Ida, we have opened a book drop location for down the bayou patrons to return materials. Patrons can return items checked out from ANY of our branches in this book drop.

The new book drop is located in the parking lot of the South Lafourche Bank at 16582 W. Main Street in Galliano. This is located across the bayou from the South Lafourche Library.

We ask that patrons please do not place moldy or wet items in the book drop, as we do not want to contaminate the other materials. No fines will be charged for items damaged in Ida, so we do not need them returned at this time.

Fall into Reading Challenge

Looking for motivation to get reading this month? We will be running our Fall into Reading Challenge. With fifteen prompts for adults, kids, and teens, and twenty prompts for early readers, all rooted in this time of year, you are sure to find some inspiration to pick up something new. Find out more here.

Thanksgiving Closure

In order to give our hard-working staff some time with their families, all branches will be closed starting with an early closure on November 24 @ 4 o’clock and continuing through November 27. Normal hours will resume November 29.

Grab and Go Frozen Meals

Second Harvest Frozen Meals program is now operating out of all open branches. Come in Monday - Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 to pick up free and healthy frozen meals for school aged children while supplies last. No registration is required and the children do not need to be present for pick-up.

Electronic Resources

If you are on the go more than usual right now, our electronic resources and subscription services can be wonderful to use. Your portable device or computer can hold books and audiobooks with CloudLibrary, magazines with Flipster, graphic novels and movies with Hoopla, and so much more! Even better is no chance of late fees. Items are automatically returned at the end of the checkout period. - Catherine, Cataloging Librarian
