Forced into the witness protection program after being caught in the crosshairs of a drug-trafficking organization, Jason Bennett and his family, trapped in an unfamiliar life, start falling apart at the seams until Jason takes matters into his own hands after a shocking truth is revealed.
From the moment I picked up Lisa Scottoline's What Happened to the Bennetts, I was sucked in and didn’t stop until the end!
The evening started out as a happy event for the Bennett’s. Allison’s lacrosse team won their game and the family was ready to celebrate. Things quickly turned to violence as they were stopped in an apparent car jacking, but something went horribly wrong. One of the car jackers killed his partner. Without a lot of time to process the tragedies that occurred, the FBI comes and explains they need to agree to go in to witness protection for the rest of their lives. The people who attempted to car jack them were from a well organized crime syndicate and the man who dies at the scene was a high-placed mobster’s son. The Bennett’s leave everything they know in the middle of the night not telling even their closest friends what has happened.
This begins the family drama thriller with lots of twists and turns. The middle of the book is a wild ride as the creative plot plays out. The end of the book has the most action as not everything is as it seems.
This was an amazing read. I highly recommend!
