Harry Booth, a clever thief who can't afford to get attached, finds his heart stolen by Miranda Emerson, but must leave her cruelly behind to free himself from the grip of a deadly predator in order to possess something more valuable than anything he has ever stolen - Miranda.
Nightwork takes the reader on an adventure through the years of Harry Booth’s life. Harry didn’t set out to become the best thief in the world; but when tragedy occurred, he did what he had to do to survive. Harry honed his skills from childhood through adulthood. He became a chameleon in every environment he encountered. After leaving Chicago, Harry lived in several places before settling in New Orleans. That’s where he met his new family. Harry thought he could finally be a normal man but trouble soon found him. In order to save his new family from danger, Harry had to disappear again.
Harry unexpectedly bumps into the one woman he could never forget, Miranda Emerson. Miranda cannot believe that this person is the same she knew all those years ago. He calls himself a different name, but it’s him. Miranda and Harry soon find themselves in an unthinkable situation. Harry must once and for all rid himself of the danger that stalks him through his life if he wants any chance at happiness with Miranda.
Nora Roberts never fails to draw emotions from me. I laughed, I cried, I was mad, sad, and happy while reading this book. Harry Booth’s story is a whirlwind of people and places and each encounter is special. Nightwork is a book you can sink into and lose track of the world. I highly recommend this read!
